Summary:
The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has introduced new tools under its PRIority MEdicines (PRIME) scheme to help accelerate the development and evaluation of medicines that address unmet medical needs in the EU. The updated approach enhances early scientific and regulatory support for developers, helping optimise development plans and generate robust evidence more efficiently. The new tools are designed to improve collaboration between regulators and medicine developers, streamline processes and enable earlier patient access to innovative treatments. The initiative strengthens the EU’s commitment to supporting innovation while maintaining high standards of quality, safety and efficacy.
