2025 – A year of collaboration, new beginnings and long-standing commitments (EDQM)

Summary: In this year-end reflection published on 16th December 2025, the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare (EDQM) highlights 2025 as a year shaped by collaboration, digital transformation and renewed expert engagement. A key milestone was the transition to a fully digital European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.) with the launch of the 12th Edition, marking the end of the paper version and the introduction of a redesigned online platform with a simplified licensing model. The EDQM also notes leadership renewal within the European Pharmacopoeia Commission (new Chair and Vice-Chairs elected in May) and the nomination or re-nomination of more than 1,000 experts in November to support future work across Ph. Eur. expert groups. The update also points to the importance of the CEP Conference in September, reinforcing the role of Certificates of Suitability in strengthening quality and trust in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
